A relaxed Auckland photographer

for people who want to feel like themselves

Meet the Team

You know those times when you think the 80's were not too long ago and then you realise how old you are? That's kind of what photography has been like for me. It's been a part of my life for longer than I want to admit, because then I'd feel old. I am an easy going man that always has a smile on my face. I love interacting with people, trying to pass on as much joy as I can.

Different shoots. The same essential skill: working with people

Portrait and headshot photography has taught me how much small changes in posture, expression, camera angle and light can improve a photograph.

Personal branding and commercial work has trained me to think beyond one impressive hero image. I plan for variety, consistency and where each photograph will be used, so you come away with a useful image library rather than a collection of near-duplicates.

Weddings and live events require a different instinct. I need to read the room, anticipate what is about to happen and capture the important interactions without constantly interrupting them.

That range of experience means I can provide direction when it helps—and recognise when the best thing I can do is step back and let a real moment unfold.

Planning with Purpose

Before the shoot, we’ll talk about what you need, where the images will appear and how you want them to feel. Depending on the session, I can help with locations, outfits, shot lists, moodboards and the overall visual direction. This preparation gives us a clear starting point while leaving enough room for spontaneous ideas on the day.

Calm, practical direction

You won’t be left wondering where to look, what to do with your hands or whether something is working. I use straightforward prompts and small adjustments to help you move naturally. I’ll pay attention to posture, expression and the details that make a photograph feel polished, without trying to turn you into someone you’re not.

You don't need to be "good in photos"

Most of the people I photograph aren’t professional models and they don’t need to be.

Part of my job is noticing what works, explaining it clearly and creating an atmosphere where you can stop thinking about the camera. Clients regularly mention the preparation, easy direction and relaxed energy of their sessions.

A little about the person behind the camera

I’m still a tech enthusiast and unapologetic camera-shop browser. Away from work, you’ll usually find me listening to music or a murder-mystery podcast, playing PS5, catching a live gig or attempting a supposedly “easy” hike with my wife, Monique.

At home, Zorro the cat continues to fulfil her (yes her) duties as Life in Style’s largely unhelpful meow-nager.

What I bring to every session

More about me

🎮 I love playing PS5 and listening to murder-mystery podcasts, although probably not at the same time, unless I’m prepared to be terrible at both.

🎸 MUSIC. I’ll choose music over TV almost every time. I love going to gigs and have managed to see plenty of incredible artists throughout the UK and Europe over the years. There’s nothing quite like seeing your favourite music performed live.

📷 I’m a complete tech and gadget geek, which probably explains the photography career. If you leave me unattended in a camera shop, I’ll inevitably pick up every camera and lens to see what it can do, even when I have absolutely no intention of buying it. Well, almost no intention.

🏋️ I’m in my late thirties but still haven’t caught the running bug. You’re far more likely to find me at the gym, playing squash or tennis, or heading out on my bike. I’m always keen for a game, even if my competitive side occasionally makes an appearance.

🥾 I love getting out, exploring somewhere new and heading off on what was advertised as an “easy” hike, only to discover someone had been rather generous with the word easy.

💘 My partner Monique and I have been together for yonks. She’s my super-tall Dutch-Kiwi gal who knows how to party and is always up for a good yarn. We recently got married at Mudbrick, which was an incredible place to celebrate. If you’re looking for a wedding venue of your own, it’s definitely one worth considering.

MY GOAL IS SIMPLE...

I want you to feel comfortable, confident, and a little bit iconic. Whether I’m photographing your wedding, your portrait, or an event full of beautiful chaos, I’m there to help you relax, have fun, and see yourself the way other people already do.

My vision is to create images that feel warm, honest, and full of life. Photos that don’t just look good, but actually feel like you. The real moments, the tiny sparks, the big feelings, and all the magic in between.
